either..or

·         The expression either . . . or means the first one or the second one.

·   Either… or - used in a sentence in the affirmative sense when referring to a choice between two possibilities.


  • We can either eat now or after the show - it's up to you.

  •   We can go to either Greece or Spain for our holiday.

  •  It’s my final offer – you can either take it or leave it.

  • He is a fool. He is a madman. 
       He is either a fool or a madman. 

  • The car dashed against a goat. The car dashed against a donkey.
       The car dashed against either a goat or a donkey.


neither..nor
·         The expression neither . . . nor means not the first one and not the second one.

·   Neither…. nor - used in a sentence in the negative sense when you want to say that two or more things are not true.

  • Neither my mother nor my father went to university.
